ETHIOPIA DAY 1

Ethiopia

This was the most eye opening journey of my life and since I have too much to share for one post I shall do a day by day post

Day 1
I travelled with my father Cian along with 45 other Trekkers in the support Africa foundation. On Friday we all met up at 4:30pm on terminal 1. Our flight took off at 7pm and we were in for a rough long flight on Ethiopian airways. The flight was overnight which was key as we could all sleep to pass the time. We arrived in Addis Ababa where we were faced with a hour long queue filled with problems with passports. So it was really till after that we got to experience African culture. We got a bus to our hotel and immediately realised many differences, there were guns everywhere and instead of having a boot in the car there were ropes and you tied your luggage to the roof. After we arrived to the luxurious Radisson  hotel were we were treated with juices and a delicious buffet.  We relaxed for a hour before we hit the road to look at two schools in the area. It would take the kids walking hours to get there and the facilities were poor to say the least but it was all they had.

Later we went to another school where we met locals and ended up sharing bread with them and danced together.
